Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram release document on state of Indian economy
Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh has questioned the centre's economic policies and said that India is not in a good shape.
Just days before the announcement of Union Budget, Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram released the Congress party's report on Indian economy.
While launching the report, former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh has questioned the centre's economic policies and said that India is not in a good shape.
"The Indian economy is not in good shape even the international bodies and rating agencies have projected a lower economic growth," Dr Singh stated.
In the press meet, former finance minister P Chidambaram criticised the government for the poor state of economy.
"There are no jobs, capital formation has declined and credit growth is the lowest for several decades, yet the government is painting a rosy picture of the economy," Chidambaram said in the press meet.
"Every government must be optimistic, but optimism must stem from a realistic assessment of the situation," Chidambaram added.
