After paying tribute to Bapuji, the Prime Minister joined a group of people offering their prayers at an inter-religious meeting.
An ardent supporter of non-violence, Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist on January 30, 1948. Godse had fired three bullets into his chest during a prayer meeting at the Birla House.
