Activists of Rajput Karni Sena today disrupted the shooting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavati and manhandled the director, claiming that the film portrays Rani Padmavati in a bad light.
Members of Rajput Karni Sena stalled the shooting of the film which had started its shoot at the Jaigarh fort in Jaipur recently. NDTV.com reported that the protesters slapped Bhansali and vandalised property on the set.
“The film is presenting wrong facts about Padmavati. Our basic protest is about the distortion of historic facts which will not be tolerated,” Vikram Singh, a Karni Sena activist said.

In the film, Deepika Padukone plays the role of Queen Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor essays Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh plays Alauddin Khilji.
Due to the protests, the shoot has been put on hold. The violent protesters have thrown the shooting equipment which forced the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to call the police.
