Punjab Polls 2017: Former Congress leader Bir Devinder backs AAP
Bir Devinder Singh has backed AAP in the presence of party candidate Dr Balbir Singh and leader Jassi Jasraj on Monday in Patiala.
Former Deputy speaker of Punjab assembly and former Congress leader Bir Devinder Singh has backed AAP in the presence of party candidate Dr Balbir Singh and leader Jassi Jasraj on Monday in Patiala.
"He has considerable personal influence in the area and will campaign for AAP. However, he has not formally joined AAP," Times of India has quoted Dr Balbir Singh as saying. Bir Devinder was the one who had brought allegations of corruption against Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh to light and his support has come as a shot in the arm for his party, Dr Balbir Singh added.
While making efforts to resolve the differences between Bir Devinder and Cap Amarinder Singh by congress strategist Prashant Kishor, Devinder had again parted ways after being expelled for six years last year. He has not joined any party after that.
On the other hand, Gautambir Singh, media in-charge of Trinamool Congress and close aide of TMC Punjab chief Jagmeet Singh Brar joined AAP in the presence of party's state in-charge Sanjay Singh.
