Rajnikanth supports Jallikkattu, days after Kamal Haasan defends the sport
Citing the sport is a part of Tamil cultural heritage, Rajni said it "should be protected"
Tamil superstar Rajnikanth on Saturday came in support of the bull-taming sport Jallikkattu as talks about banning it gained heat. Megastar Kamal Haasan also extended his support for Jallikkattu a few days ago.
"Rules can be framed to regulate the sport to prevent injuries, but instead of that (framing rules), is it right to negate a culture?" the star asked.
Citing the sport is a part of Tamil cultural heritage, Rajni said it "should be protected".
"Jallikattu should be held to uphold the traditions of our Tamil culture," he said.
While participating in a function, the actor said the sport should be held as new regulation were brought in and it should be done as per the tradition and culture.
Earlier, national award winning actor Kamal Haasan and young star Surya extended their support for Jallikkattu. Actor Arya has also come in support for the sport.
In the function held by a Tamil magazine, Rajinikanth was awarded the best actor for his performance as a lively don despite his advancing age in last year's Tamil hit movie "Kabali".
