Ram Gopal Yadav proposes Akhilesh Yadav as party president

The never ending drama continues in the Samajwadi Party (SP) ahead of the Uttar Pradesh polls in 2017. In the latest update on the Yadav feud  the national convention saw Ram Gopal Yadav on sunday  proposed chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's name as the party president .

It also proposed to sack party General Secretary Amar Singh and suspension of Shivpal Yadav as party president  so that Akhilesh could take over the charge.  The national convention is been  held at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow.

Adding to the chaos was that of Mulayam Singh Yadav , who called the national convention as unconstitutional.  Mulayam Singh had earlier  in sudden move revoked “with immediate effect” the expulsion of his son, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and cousin Ram Gopal Yadav whom he had ordered out of the party a day earlier for “gross indiscipline”.

According to media reports, Mulayam had revoked the expulsion in wake of his clout and party being threatened after an overwhelming majority of MLAs rallied behind the chief minister. Most candidates and  party leaders were in Lucknow to see the outcome of the national convention Sunday. A section in the party wants Akhilesh elevated as the executive national president of the SP.
