Violence in Kolkata after Sudip Bandyopadhyay's arrest
Angry TMC workers attacked BJP headquarters in Kolkata, and the situation is getting worse as per latest reports coming from the city
Within hours after the CBI arrested Trinamool Congress senior leader and MP Sudip Bandopadhyay for his alleged role in the Rs 15,000 crore Rose Valley chit fund scam, violence broke out on the streets of Kolkata.
Angry TMC workers have attacked BJP headquarters in Kolkata, and the situation is getting worse as per latest reports coming from the city.
A huge police contingent is camping outside the BJP office. A mob consisting of 40-50 TMC workers, hurled stones at the BJP office and ransacked the premises and injured BJP workers reported NDTV.
BJP West Bengal state in-charge Sidhath Nath Singh has denounced the attack on BJP workers as barbaric.
He said, the attack began soon after the arrest of Sudip by CBI sleuths for further interrogation on the Chit fund scam reached the city.
TMC has called for a protest against demonetisation in 10 states from January 9, and Mamata has called an emergency meeting on Tuesday.
