The trekkers were forced to chant slogans praising Shivaji and told to hold saffron flags, alleged one of the victim, Shalini Pallav Jhala who has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Lonavala Rural Police.

A group of trekkers from Pune and Mumbai were thrashed and stripped by saffron brigade, at the Visapur Fort adjacent to Lohagad near Lonavala. They were also forced to chant slogans praising Shivaji and told to hold saffron flags, alleged one of the victim, Shalini Pallav Jhala who has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Lonavala Rural Police.

Based on her complaint, police booked 15 people including six woman activists of a local saffon outfit. Additional superintendent of police Rajkumar Shinde was reported by Mid Day as saying that,“We have registered a case based on Shalini’s complaint. Through Dasgupta we are trying to get the contact details of the other families, who were present at the camp. Action will be taken against the officers who did not take the case seriously.”
