Techies robbed after Uber taxi driver drops them at wrong location in Bengaluru

Two techies were robbed by a gang of four bike-borne miscreants in Bengaluru after they were dropped by the driver of an Uber cab at a wrong location.

The driver was supposed to take them to their residence in Electronics City, but instead dropped them near Nimhans, after telling them that he was feeling sleepy.

The victims are D Virat and his cousin, Venkatesh Rao, natives of Vaidehi Nagar in Hyderabad, who work in Bengaluru software companies.

Virat told Bangalore Mirror, “The Uber driver, identified as Mohinuddin, first stopped to pick up some food. He later complained to us that he was extremely tired as he had been driving for the last 24 hours, so was sleepy. After we had reached Nimhans Convention Centre, he stopped the car and refused to proceed, saying he was overworked and could not drive any further. We requested him to drop us at least at the Silk Board junction as it would be easier for us to get another cab there, but he refused.”

“Within two to three minutes after the driver dropped us at the bus stop and left, four persons on two motorcycles approached us. They threatened us with a knife and robbed us. One of the bikes was a black-coloured Pulsar. They operated swiftly and took away two mobile phones, a camera and cash that we were carrying,” Virat added.
