A 23-year-old man allegedly molested two air hostesses of Jet Airways flight no. 9S24460 on Mumbai-Nagpur flight on Saturday.
According to a report in The Times of India, the air hostesses gave a written complaint to the flight captain against the accused, who was traveling on seat no. 41E of the flight. The accused has been identified as a hardware trader Akash Gupta, who was drunk at the time he committed the crime.
The report added that flight captain, Gopalsingh Mohansingh, informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) about the incident and handed over the accused Gupta, a native of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, to them.
The CISF later contacted the Sonegaon police who arrested Gupta and registered an offence of outraging of modesty under section 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police interrogated Gupta and on Sunday produced him before the court which sent him to magisterial custody.
Gupta had gone to Goa on a vacation, the report said, and on his return journey, he boarded the Jet Airways flight for Nagpur at Mumbai airport. Police told the English newspaper that, Gupta, who had probably consumed liquor in Mumbai, grabbed the hand of the two air hostesses when they were serving him a meal.
The air hostesses informed other crew members who stopped Gupta, however, he argued with them as well following which they informed the captain.
