A R Rahman turns down Canada

The Indian music maestro A R Rahman on Wednesday has turned down the offer of Canada to set up base there saying he was very happy in India.

The Oscar-winning music director wrote on Facebook, “Thank you for your kind invitation to set up a base in Canada, Mr Mayor. I’m indeed very touched and moved by your gesture.

“I’m well settled and happy in Tamil Nadu, India with my family, friends and the people there. Do visit our KM Music Conservatory when you come to India the next time. I will also look into interesting artistic collaborations between Canada and India.”


Considered as the most celebrated musician in the modern era of India, Rahman arguably has transformed the Indian music industry with his revolutionary and innovative style. The Mozart of Madras won two Oscars in 2009 for his music and song in Slumdog Millionaire.

His announcement on social media was flooded with praises from his fans.
