Popular South Indian actress waylaid, harassed in her car in Kochi

In a shocking incident, a popular Malayalam actress, who has also done Telugu and Tamil movies, was kidnapped while she was travelling in her car from Thrissur to Kochi on Friday night. They let her off at Vazhakkala near Kakkanad in Kochi in the wee hours of Saturday. A complaint has been registered with the police.

According to a report in Mathrubhumi News, a gang, who arrived in car, hit her vehicle at Athani near Angamaly. Both the parties had an argument over the matter and in the meantime, the gang barged into her car. They allegedly assaulted and took her photographs. When the car reached Palarivattom, the culprits fled in another car. Following this, she sought the help of a director, who is residing at Vazhakkala.

The incident is suspected to be conspiracy hatched to blackmail the actress. Police is also questioning her driver Martin to find if he was also part of the crime. Perumbavoor-native Sunil is suspected to be the main accused.

Sunil works as a middleman, who arranges drivers for actors. It is Sunil who had arranged Martin as the actress' driver.

Malayala Manorama reported that the actress reportedly told the police that her former driver was among those who forcefully entered the car.

The police have arrested the actress' driver and directed the media not to publish the actress’ name or photographs since the crime involves physical assault and capturing defamatory pictures.
