Some members of a particular community allegedly made vulgar comments against a woman belonging to another community, leading to a fracas that grew into a clash
Communally-sensitive Kairana in Shamli District of Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a commotion between members of two communities over an alleged eve-teasing incident where at least 11 people, including two women, were injured.
According to Janta Ka Reporter, SHO Umesh Singh reportedly said the incident took place on Sunday evening during a wedding ceremony in Paati village under Kairana police station limits.
He also said that some members of a particular community allegedly made vulgar comments against a woman belonging to another community, leading to a fracas that grew into a clash.
The members of both communities threw stones at each other during the clash. This led to the injuries of at least 11 people, including two women, Janta Ka Reporter quoted Singh.
The injured have been hospitalised and extra police force deployed in the area in view of the tension following the incident.
So many politicians have used the place for political mileage through communal comments in the past. BJP lawmakers have claimed that the area saw an exodus of Hindu families due to the influx of people from Muslim community after the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.
