Congress had tried to get Mulayam killed, yet Akhilesh joined hands with Rahul: PM Modi
PM Modi said if voted to power the BJP would waive off the loans of farmers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lambasted the SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh, alleging that minister Akhilesh Yadav has joined hands with the party that tried to kill his father Mulayam Singh Yadav in 1984.
PM Modi asked: “Can Akhilesh recall that the Congress attacked Mulayam on March 4, 1984? Have you heard of a son who has allied with a party that tried to kill his father?”
It's a charge that Mulayam had himself first levelled against the Congress in 1984. "After the attempt on Mulayam's life, Charan Singh and Vajpayee had formed Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha to intensify the anti-Congress movement. But, in a bid to remain in power, Akhilesh has joined hands with the party that tried to kill his father," Modi told a rally in Gursaiganj.
"Fed up with Mulayam Singh's attacks when he was leader of the opposition in UP Vidhan Parishad, the Congress got shots fired at him on March 4, 1984, but he escaped. I want to tell Akhilesh that he should have remembered this before sitting in the lap of the Congress," Modi said.
PM Modi said if voted to power the BJP would waive off the loans of farmers. PM added the poor had exposed the lies of the opposition parties on surgical strike and demonetisation. “BJP’s success in elections indicates the poor is supporting us,” Modi said.
