Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien on Thursday irked Twitter users for alleging a handle for issuing "rape and communal threats" while blasting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for "mainstreaming hate" in Parliament.

O'Brien came against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging hatred by following people who goes on with hate campaigns on social media.

“26 Twitter handles that give out rape threats, communal threats are followed by the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi),” O‘Brien who is known for his quiz shows said during the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha.

The Trinamool MP also said that two of those handles were suspended by Twitter and gave the name of the handle @Bhaksala which is registered under a Rahul Raj’s name. O'Brien added that  “these Twitter trolls, the paid handles” were invited to Modi's residence for a digital and social media party.

Ridiculing O'Brien's allegations, Raj tweeted that he had never met PM and his account was never suspended by Twitter.

“After these wild & nasty allegations by @quizderek, I feel threatened as a common man. Parliament should protect common men, not scare them,” Raj tweeted.

Twitter users came in support of Raj and asked for an apology from the TMC MP. They also demanded the Speaker to remove his remarks before the House.
