Hardik Patel to campaign for Shiv Sena in Mumbai civic polls
Patel is scheduled to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter's residence at noon today. After the meeting, he will address a rally in Mumbai's western suburbs.
In upcoming Mumbai Civic Polls, the firebrand leader of Patidar reservation agitation Hardik Patel will campaign for Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena plans to get Patel to campaign for party candidates in Mumbai's Gujarati dominated areas, Indian Express reported.
Indian Express report says that on January 19, Thackeray had sent an emissary to Gujarat to hold talks with Patel. The emissary met Patel near Ahmedabad on that day, where the latter had agreed to participate in the Shiv Sena’s election campaign for Mumbai. Patel is scheduled to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter's residence at noon today. After the meeting, he will address a rally in Mumbai's western suburbs, Indian Express reported.
Shiv Sena, the strong ally of BJP for past 25 years, has broken off for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections for the first time. But the party still remains in alliance with the BJP at the centre and in the Maharashtra government. Shiv Sena is worried about BJP's strong support among Mumbai's Gujaratis and wants to use Patel to counter BJP.
The Gujarati votes play a major role in the 40-odd seat Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
