Jayalithaa died due to multiple organ failure: Dr Richard Beale
In the press meet, Dr Beale said that the former chief minister suffered from acute diabetes and died of respiratory failure.
Two months after the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Dr Richard Beale, the specialist doctor from London Bridge Hospital who treated her, has addressed a press conference in Chennai.
The press meet facilitated by the Tamil Nadu government which is considered to put an end to the rumours and allegations surrounding Jayalalitha's death.
In the press meet, Dr Richard Beale, who last examined her, said the former chief minister had suffered from acute diabetes that led to respiratory failure and dysfunction of her organs.
Dr Beale added that it was a complication and not conspiracy that kept them from revealing details about the CM's health. The doctor said that an infection led to organ failure.
“At the beginning, when she was unwell, she was not able to interact. Later on the situation improved and she was aware and able to interact more," Dr Beale said.
When asked about why no pictures of Amma were released, the doctor replied that they did not allow the release of information about patients who are critical. "It is not normal practice to take photos and publish private details. It is an intrusion into her privacy," he said.
Dr Beale's address to the media comes at a time when Sasikala is taking over as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
