Ramjas row: Kargil martyr

Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur, who alleged on Sunday to have received “rape threats”, after her Facebook post against the ABVP went viral, has filed a complaint with Delhi Commission for Women against cyber bullies on Monday.

According to media report, she has identified some Twitter handles that belong to ABVP activists and handed over a list of accounts to the Delhi police.

Kaur met Delhi commission for women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal and complained against the online threats she had received, a DCW official said.

Earlier in the day, Kaur said that she would also not hesitate in taking a bullet for the country like her father Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh.

According to Asian News International report, she asserted that her campaign is aimed at raising voice against organisations, which challenge the law of the land and try to curb the fundamental right of 'freedom of speech'.

"I will not be scared or be cowed down, my father took a bullet for the country and I am also ready to take a bullet for the country, I also have the courage to take a bullet for the nation. I want all students to raise their voices against the violence and say that they will not tolerate this," she had said.

Following her campaign, Gurmehar said, she has received threats on various platforms. "But I will not get scared because I know that I am standing for the right. And it does not matter to me that you are an organisation which is in power, no one can tell me that I should be scared? she added.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Pratap Simha on Monday compared Kargil martyr's daughter Gurmehar Kaur with terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

Sinha's comparison was followed by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju's tweet, suggesting that Kaur was being influenced by someone or a group.

"Who's polluting this young girl's mind? A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded," the Minister of State for Home Affairs said.
