Kerala Medical College: Girl was chased, set on fire by ex-boyfriend over break-up fight

Laxmi, a 20-year-old student studying in Kerala's Kottayam was sitting in the classroom on Wednesday when a young man rushed in and threw petrol on her and himself.

She ran out of class screaming, when the man, Adarsh took out a lighter.

He caught her outside and used the lighter to set her on fire. Adarsh later burnt himself.

Both of them died due to severe burns on the body in the hospital. Two classmates who tried to save her were also burnt and are being treated.

Laxmi, a physiotherapy student at the School of Medical Education, had 65 per cent burns to their body.

NDTV quoted the police that both the deceased were in a relationship. They also said Adarsh, alumni of the college, was angry at Laxmi for breaking up with him.

A strike was going on in the campus as Adarsh walked in the class, as literally, nobody was there to stop him. He was also not stopped because he had come to the college for an exam just a day before.
