Kerala MLA PC George allegedly slaps canteen staff member

PC George, MLA from Poonjar in Kerala, is alleged to have slapped and abused a staff member of the Kerala Assembly canteen for the delay in bringing him lunch.

Manu, a staff of the Assembly canteen, filed a complaint with the Legislative Secretary against the MLA in this regard. However, the MLA denied the allegation, media reports said.

"He brought lunch to my room 40 minutes after I made the order. I scolded him for that, but didn’t beat him. Nobody would believe this allegation," George told reporters, as reported by

The staff, a native of Vattiyurkkav in Thiruvananthapuram, has been admitted at the General Hospital there.

The Budget session of Kerala assembly is currently in progress.

George is the lone independent member of the Kerala Assembly representing Poonjar constituency in Kottayam.

Just last week, he had floated a social outfit called 'Janapaksham' to ‘ensure justice for minorities and the marginalised’.

When asked about the complainant’s statement about his face showing the ‘mark’ of having been hit, PC George retorted, “I will have to then ask how that happened because I didn’t hit him. He behaved so rudely to me and I got angry but I didn’t raise my hand to him – who knows who hit him?”

“I will file a complaint to the Speaker,” PC George told Manorama News.

The only two witnesses in this incident are PC George’s PA and his driver.
