Mallikarjun Kharge's outburst in the Parliament: Gandhis died for the nation, not even a dog from your house

Congress MPs in the Lower House under the leadership of their vice president Rahul Gandhi demanded a probe into the death of the IUML leader and Kerala MP

Mallikarjun Kharge

The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday lashed at the government for keeping silent about veteran MP E Ahamed's death in a hospital ahead of the annual union budget on February 1.

Congress MPs in the Lower House under the leadership of their vice president Rahul Gandhi demanded a probe into the death of the IUML leader and Kerala MP.

"Ahamed was unnecessarily kept on life support when he had already expired. They wanted to hide this fact, they hushed up his death. That is why we are demanding a Parliamentary Committee to be formed to probe the matter," Kharge said in the House.

Other than the issue over Ahamed's death, Kharge also talked about the issue of demonetisation.

The Congress leader criticised Prime Minister for his note ban move, saying 125 people died due to the cash crunch and the PM should have atleast apologised for it.

He became emotional and bursted: "Gandhi ji sacrificed his life for the country; Indira ji too sacrificed her life. Who came from your house? Not a single dog came from your family."

The Opposition leader then added, "You are good in speaking, you give good speeches, but you can't fill stomach with good speeches."

"No need to take credit for surgical strikes, it is not only you who is with the Army, but the whole nation too is with them," Kharge then said.
