A video clip started circulating on Social media in which the man is seen being rushed away from the Kaaba by the pilgrims and security guards.
A man tried to set fire to himself with petrol to the side of the Kaaba, a black-walled building towards which Muslims pray during their holy Hajj pilgrim, inside Mecca's Grand Mosque on late Monday but was arrested before he could succeed, the Saudi Arabia police said.
“His actions suggest that he is mentally ill,” Reuters, quoted the mosque's police service as saying in a statement, also adding that police would take necessary measure to address the incident. They also said that the man was in his 40s.
