Notification issued for first phase of Manipur Assembly polls
Returning officers of 38 assembly constituencies issued the election notification, starting the poll process.
Election notification has been issued for 38 assembly constituencies on Tuesday for the Manipur Assembly election, which would go to polls its first phase on March 4. The second phase would be held on March 8.
Starting the poll process, returning officers of 38 assembly constituencies issued the election notification. The last date for filing nomination papers is February 14 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 16. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is February 18.
According to the official release, the assembly constituencies where polling would be held during the first phase are - Khundrakpam, Heingang, Khurai, Kshetrigao, Thongju, Keirao, Andro, Lamlai, Thangmeiband, Uripok, Sagolband, Keishamthong, Singjamei, Yaiskul, Wangkhei, Sekmai, Lamsang, Konthoujam, Patsoi, Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Wangoi, Mayang Imphal, Nambol, Oinam, Bishnupur, Moirang, Thanga, Kumbi, Saikul, Kangpokpi, Saitu, Tipaimukh, Thanlon, Henglep, Churachandpur, Saikot and Singhat.
Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party, eyeing a victory in the assembly election 2017, has released the third list of two candidates for Manipur Legislative Assembly polls.
The list includes Rajen Singh, a former state minsiter, who will contest from Lamsang seat and K Krishna Kumar Singh who will is contesting for Bishnupur seat. The announcement of the two seat completes 60 candidates of BJP for the upcoming election. Congress Party had already declared 60 names for the assembly polls, fielding Okram Ibobi Singh, who has been the chief minister of the state for the last 3 terms, as its chief ministerial candidate.
