Rangoon box office collection: Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut film mints Rs 6.07 crore
The movie saw below average opening, despite being a holiday in many parts of India due to Maha Shivratri.
Based on war drama, Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon opened its box office account on Friday morning and collected Rs 6.07 crore on its first day in public's court.
With Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in the lead, the film had a niche appeal and high expectations but could only rope in Rs 6.07 crore, which, according to Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, needs to show massive growth on weekend to sustain and survive.
#Rangoon has a dismal start... Fri ₹ 6.07 cr. India biz... Will need to show massive growth on Sat + Sun to sustain and survive.

The movie saw below average opening, despite being a holiday in many parts of India due to Maha Shivratri. The occupancy remained around 10-15 per cent through the day, despite opening on approximately 1800 screens in India.
The film did manage to create a buzz among the audience thanks to its steady media campaign and the pairing of Kangana and Shahid. While Kangana is riding a success wave, Shahid is fresh from the success of Udta Punjab. But how much will this add to Rangoon’s performance in the coming days, is yet to be seen.
