UP polls: RLD candidate gets brother killed for votes, arrested
Manoj didn't get the ticket from BSP and joined RLD for the ticket.
With the election dates in Uttar Pradesh nearing, campaigning and polls promises are on the high in the state. However, taking elections to another level, a candidate of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) got his brother killed for getting 'sympathy votes.'
According to the reports, the incident happened in the rural outskirts near Khurja where the bodies of the RLD candidate Manoj Gautam's elder brother Vinod Gautam and a distant relative Sachin were found in a mango orchard on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were present at the rally of RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary and both of them went missing after the rally ended on Monday. On Tuesday, their bullet-ridden bodies were found.
"After scanning the call records, we zeroed in two suspects, who were found involved in shooting the youths. We nabbed them and were shocked to know the involvement of Manoj in the crime," SP(Rural) Jagdish Sharma said.
In a press conference, the police released an audio of the conversation between Manoj's driver Pravindra and an accomplice Firoz who were also involved in the murder.
"Pravindra and Firoz kidnapped both the relatives and killed them on Monday evening. Manoj's licensed gun was used to commit the crime and the call details of these three has revealed the conspiracy was hatched by Manoj. All the three have been arrested", SSP Bulandshahr Sonia Singh said.
Notably, Manoj didn't get the ticket from BSP and joined RLD for the ticket. Locals said Manoj spent crores in the constituency and losing this election could have reduced him to ground.
