Will take back AIADMK from the hands of one family, says Panneerselvam
We will take back the party from the hands of the family, who Jayalalithaa threw out of Poes Garden, says Panneerselvam.
Referring to Sasikala and her family, former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam on Friday said his AIADMK faction will take back the party form the hands of the family, who Jayalalithaa "threw out of Poes Garden".
Panneerselvam said the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was the one who helped increase the party membership from 14 lakh to 1.5 crore, according to a report in The Hindu.
"She faced many troubles after MGR.'s death. Jayalalithaa was clear that there will be no family politics in the AIADMK. But today, the government and the party is in the hands of one family. Our biggest challenge is 'dharma yudham' [war for justice]. Justice will win,'' the former CM was quoted as saying by the English daily.
''We will take back the party from the hands of the family, who Jayalalithaa threw out of Poes Garden," Panneerselvam said.
He added that people asked about the mystery surrounding the death of Jayalalithaa, and question about her death was in everyone's minds. "The Centre and the State government should probe her death," he said.
Meanwhile, the OPS camp has got the backing of Jayalalithaa’s nephew, Deepak Jayakumar. Jayakumar, speaking to reporters, said the Sasikala assuming the top post was ‘unacceptable’ to the people of Tamil Nadu and the question of taking Panneerselvam back into the AIADMK didn’t arise as he was very much a leader of the party.
“He was a good chief minister… he is still in the party and therefore the question of sacking him and taking him back into AIADMK does not arise. It is his (OPS) party,” Deepak said.
