Amidst Ramjas row, Freedom for Kashmir poster surfaces in JNU
In the 2016’s controversy, alleged anti-national slogans were raised during a rally, which had led police slapping sedition cases on students Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhat Tacharya and others.
Amidst the escalating debate over Ramjas clash, a poster calling for "freedom for Kashmir" had on Thursday surfaced at the Jawaharlal Nehru University's School of Social Sciences' new block.
The poster that reads "Freedom for Kashmir! Free Palestine! Right to self-determination long live," appeared in the name of ultra-Left group DSU.
The poster was noticed by some students, after which they alerted the varsity administration, according to a repot in Times of India. Soon after the adminitration got the information, the university security remove the poster.
The "anti-national" poster appeared after Democratic Students Union, the same group whose former members Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhat Tacharya and others organised a protest rally on February 9, 2016, against the hanging of Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru and Kashmiri separatist Maqbool Bhat.
In the 2016's uproar, alleged anti-national slogans were raised during the rally and police had to slap sedition cases on the students.
The English newspaper quoted a student affilated to a Left group, but not from DSU, as saying that the poster has been there for three-four days. "But this is nothing new as such posters from DSU keep emerging at the start of sessions," the student added.
