In Kerala's Wayanad, seven girls were drawn out of their orphanage, threatened and sexually assaulted by a group of 6 young men. The men were arrested yesterday following a complaint by the orphanage in Wayanad.

The reports quoted police as saying that on their way back to the orphanage from school, the girls would be offered treats, cajoled, taken to a shop and then sexually assaulted. The girls were threatened and warned against complaining to anyone.

It was when a guard who saw a girl being taken out of the shop one day grew suspicious and informed the orphanage, which filed a police complaint on Saturday. Later, investigations confirmed that 7 minors had been sexually abused for two months by the men.

The accused have been charged with rape and under the stringent POCSO (Protection of Children Against Sexual Crimes) Act. The police is looking for more members of the gang.
