UP elections 2017: PM Narendra Modi vs Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati in Mirzapur today
Uttar Pradesh will vote for phase 6 on March 4
In the last leg of the battle of power in Uttar Pradesh elections 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati are set to lead rallies in Mirzapur, a day before UP goes for Phase 6 polling.
PM Modi, who might reportedly turn his constituency into an operational base from today, will address a rally in Mirzapur, as will his political targets Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.
Furthermore, on March 4, PM Modi will campaign in Jaunpur, before returning to his constituency Varanasi, where he will address public meetings.
In a logistics nightmare, Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav will hold a joint roadshow, which was postponed twice, in Varanasi on Saturday. Mayawati will also address a public rally in Varanasi on the same day at Rohania, about 400 km from Varanasi.
With the big show of strength at the same time, the district administration is trying to ensure that the Rahul-Akhilesh road show and PM Modi's rally crowds get different channels for movement. PM Modi will also address rallies in Pindra and Ajgara in Varanasi on March 5.
The last phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh would be Phase 7 on March 8, after which counting of votes for all the states would be on March 11.
