Security forces killed 2 Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in south Kashmir's Padgampora area of Pulwama district. The encounter between security force and LeT militants are underway.

Media reports said security forces launched an anti-terror operation early this morning after being tipped off about three-four terrorists hiding in a house.

According to Times of India report, the slain militants have also been identified as Jehangir Ganai and Mohammad Shafi alias Sher Gujri. A senior CRPF officer said Ganai was involved in the killing of a local policeman last year.

Both militants are resident of Koel village of the district (Pulwama), the officer said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Padgampora village of Awantipora around 2.30 AM, a police official was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India.

The official added that the militants opened fire at security forces around 4.40 AM, which was retaliated by the law enforcement personnel. The militants were hiding in two houses next to each other.
