Alumnis' in Qatar raise concern over AMU crisis
A delegation of former students of Aligarh Muslim University based in Qatar met the Ambassador of India and expressed concern over the recent state of affairs in AMU.
Former students of Aligarh Muslim University based in Qatar met the Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran recently and handed over a memorandum addressed to President of India urging him to intervene to end crisis at Aligarh Muslim University.
AMU is presently under a crisis over a photograph of Mohammad Ali Jinnah.The delegation, while meeting the Ambassador, expressed concern that reputed world class institution like Aligarh Muslim University has been targeted by goons with what appears to be in an active connivance of police and district administration.
In an hour long meeting, the delegation sought a judicial probe into the recent controversy at AMU and also expressed concern over the ongoing academic session. The delegation also told him that AMU and JMI are two shining examples of Indian Secularism, which must be safeguarded. The ambassador reassured to pass our concerns to the President of India through the Indian Foreign Office.
