An elderly woman was mauled to death by a pack of dogs brutally today in Vythiri Wayanad district in Kerala. The dogs were raised by the house owner Karichal Jose, to where the lady went in seek of a job. Rajamma a 54-year-old Tamilian woman hailing from Old Ambedkar Colony had been finding her daily work through the national employment guarantee project run by the central government. She was attacked by the dogs today morning and she died in the hospital the same evening. Wayanad Police has registered a case against Karichal Jose for Involuntary manslaughter.

Rajamma's body was severely wounded with bites even on her head and her hand was bitten off by the animals. Even though she was taken to the nearest hospital at Vythiri by the ward member Poothiri Rasheed and others, nothing was left to save her life. Rajamma lost a big pool of blood and was unconscious while she was taken to the local hospital. She was later admitted to the Medical college for much more life-saving facilities. As the incident has lead to wide protest in the area, Vythiri police has begun an in depth investigation into the matter.
